Summer 2023 Symposium Program
Keynote Speakers
Call for Participation
Symposium Format:
This symposium will include keynote speakers, technical and position paper presentations and discussions, break-out sessions, and interactive expert panel conversations.
Topics of interest (may include, but are not limited to):
- Trust metrics for Clinical AI
- Metrics for and measures of Clinical AI uptake, utility, and impact on users
- Trust in hardware, software, and computing as components of Clinical AI
- Trustworthiness in Clinical AI: robustness, security, privacy, fairness, transparency, explainability, and accountability
- Balancing trust, security, and privacy in the use of large language models (LLM) to share clinical notes
- Responsible AI: Medical-legal and ethical requirements and moral and professional responsibilities in an era of Clinical AI
- Design and HCI research to inform Clinical AI
- Individual and team clinical AI support for remote and austere environments
- Psychology, cognition, and human-machine/human-computer collaboration in relation to trust in Clinical AI interaction and teaming
- Empirical studies examining clinician and patient perceptions and risk-beliefs of Clinical AI
- Implementation science frameworks, strategies, and outcome measures to support evidence-based translation of Clinical AI
- Differences and synergies in how AI, HCI, and healthcare research communities approach Clinical AI; Potential strategies to better bridge these communities
Participants will be invited to prepare extended versions of their position papers for a follow-up special topics issue through the Frontiers in Computer Science and Frontiers in Psychology journals.
Submission Requirements:
Participants are invited to submit:
- Technical papers reporting novel approaches, practices, and tools related to the symposium topics
- Case studies, survey papers, or best practice/guidelines papers, highlighting challenges of Clinical AI integration or other related topics
- Vision papers that present novel, exploratory or even controversial ideas related to Clinical AI. The vision papers should contribute to the ongoing conversation around medical AI and human partnership, and engage with other experts in the field.
We request that submissions are 2-6 pages for technical and case studies and 2-4 pages for vision papers using the standard AAAI Author Kit. Accepted papers will be published as part of the AAAI proceedings for authors who wish to be included.
Post-symposium, selected papers will be invited for submission as extended articles for a special issue of Frontiers in Computer Science.
